One step forward
Jun. 6th, 2009 01:19 amHal Turner has been arrested, on a charge of inciting violence against lawmakers.
It's not the first time turner has done so, and it wasn't the most recent.
The last is the more relevant because his comment when a doctor said he was willing to brave the lifestyle required to carry out the service Dr. Tiller was performing was, After the killing of abortionist George Tiller, another "doctor" has publicly announced he wishes to take Tiller's place to continue partial birth abortions!
Physician LeRoy Carhart of Omaha, NE wants to continue providing third-term abortions after the brazen slaying of his friend and colleague George Tiller.
Gee, this is becoming a "target-rich environment!"
I suspect someone has a bullet for this guy too. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
I am conflicted, slightly, by this. It's a case with a small amount of grey, but Turner's history shows this is not a one-off. It's not a moment of emotional passion getting the better of his restraint.
When he's pressed on the matter he insists he means it. That's advocacy. It's incitement. When someone carries out the things he advocates, he cheers. He praises. That's sincerity.
It's a public menace, in a way a casual threat/deathwish/etc. isn't. He means it, and he has an audience which seems to be encouraged by it.
So I'm glad he has been, at least for the moment stopped.
