Leaving on a jet plane
Mar. 3rd, 2009 05:21 amHeading back to California.
All things going as expected I'll be out the door here in an hour, clear customs to the states in about three, spend a short layover in Dulles, and arrive in LA by 2000 hours. Home by not later than 2200 PST.
I am about to leave winter, and arrive in the middle of spring, without the intervening warming up (it's -17.7C here, and will be about +15C when I get home). I will have longer days, and not need three layers of clothes to stand on the porch for more than 10 minutes.
It's been fun. More photos to come.

Date: 2009-03-03 03:51 pm (UTC)Did you vote by absentee ballot or decide not to bother voting for mayor and other city officials and on the ballot propositions?

PS I'm just back from voting. We arrived at 7:05 AM, and found ourselves the only ones there. Quite a contrast to the Presidential election in November, when we arrived at 6:30 AM and had to stand in a line that stretched out to the street (from the high school auditorium) and halfway down the block, and had to wait to nearly 8 AM to vote. The poll workers thanked us for coming, and we thanked them for being there to run things.

Date: 2009-03-03 05:02 pm (UTC)This last winter was quite warmer here in Albuquerque. No snow to send me and my minivan skidding to a sudden halt against a street lamp on a Valentine's Day. No long freezing waits for the bus. Insted, the ivy is already sporting blooms.

Date: 2009-03-04 04:00 pm (UTC)It is 20F outside and 45F inside right now (my heating has been kaput since yesterday).
I do not like the ice, the snow, or the cold. Chris and I plan to move back to CA as soon as we can reasonably do so.
