I'm only sort of satisfied with them. I need to drag out the lights and play with the balance. I also (if I really want to get the detail I'm trying to get) need to make the camera controlling software work, so I can shoot directly to the computer and better see what I'm getting.
a 4" sq image area just isn't enough to see where the light is a tad too little, or a shadow has crept in, etc..
Taking the beastie outdoors and using some bounce panels wouldn't hurt either; then I can do some translucent shots.
One of the nicer things about the camera is that (though the invested cost for the equipment isn't trivial) with the right equipment the shutter has speeds from 1/8000th to 10 hours, so I can work in some really low light environments.
On the other hand the real problem with Macro work like that isn't the lack of light, per se, but rather the edge effects one gets from diffraction at the, very, high relative f-stops in play (the really dark, isolated, stuff, was shot at effective f-stops around 64 or even 128, which is really too high to not get edge effects, so blowing them up past 4x6 gets impractical).
