Mea Culpa. I was lazy, forgot to preview and so my putting a paren, in lieu of an an angle bracket made for an ugly post, if you read it; and it seemed borked, go back and read my last post.

Orcinus has the next installment (the last one wasn't the last, I misread it) and Finnegan's Wake has a brilliant proof that Michell Malkin has no way to claim she isn't making a moral justification for interning Arabs.

Last, but not least, why is it no one is complaining that Rhys-Davies, and Spears and Simspon are coming out for Bush, but Springsteen and Mortensen are being villified for plumping on Kerry's sid

I'm convinced that most media outlets are so afraid of the "liberal" label they err on the other side. Perhaps this is why so many stories of the Bush's campaign shenangans have been flying under the wire. No one wants to publish unless they can find a "matching" story on the Dem side.

Either that, or no one but a few of us soreheads care that our civil rights are being trampled on.

Aside; isn't Jessica Simpson that genius who called all women who work at Hooters whores because they use sex to sell their product? (Has she seen her own album covers?) I shudder to think of anyone taking political advice from the chicken-in-the-sea girl.

Because there are so many other things to mock Ms. Spears for?

Starting with the 54-hour marriage, followed by the second one to the guy who dumped his knocked-up girlfriend for her.

But she supports the Family Values President, donchaknow...

Some strange people view coming out as rightwing as a brave and lonely thing to do in a sea of liberal oppression.

I don't know what color the sky is in their world, either. Maybe in their world, the sun goes around the earth.

But that's part of the success of the trope.

The media (with which our lives are suffused) are "Liberal" and so the, "conservative" values are being swamped in a sea of decadence and oppressed (little Johnny isn't allowed to read his Bible in school, lesbianism is so rampant (in Oklahoma?) that high school girls aren't allowed to go the toilet alone [I guess it's worse than smoking], the courts are refusing to let people practice their faith, our money is being taken to let welfare cheats drive cadillacs [and for some it is... crop guarantees for corn, where there is no summer rain is fraudulent, but legal], the lists go on).

So, to speak out against the huge "media" is brave, it's seen as speaking truth to power.

I am afraid, deeply afraid, that this election is a tipping point, and the next four years may seal the doom of the republic.

Ben Franklin said we had one, so long as we could keep it, and the struggle may be bitter. For the first time in my life I am afraid we will lose.

I missed the last part of her present marriage. Now she says she wants to start a family.

I'll take a Dixie Chick, hands down, and I care for most country about as much as I care for most pop.

Pray hard if you pray, and wish hard if you don't. I share your fear, and I've been mocked for it. I've pledged a week after the election, should it become a case of "four more years", to work on creating avenues for protest and action.

I asked the same thing when Schwarzenegger ran for Governer of CA: wtf? It's okay for him to talk about politics and participate but Susan Sarandon has to shut up?

Yeah, apparently there was a memo titled "It's Okay if You're a Republican" that we missed. It covers everything.
