Alaska, Hawaii, and Georgia are a bit of a cheat. I've never been in them apart from airports.
That much riding has changed how I ride. I have a lot more confidence in the corners. I've not been on any "twisties" since before I left, but I ran some errands yesterday and I entered a turn I used to take at about 30, at about 40. Wind, is as nothing. I have 1,000 miles with a passenger, and almost 8,000 with luggage/drag. The bike, empty, now feels fairly light. Given that it's seen as "big" (someone asked CG, when he heard I was looking at a bike this size, "will he be able to pick it up). Wet weight, she's basically 600 lbs. I had, all things added together, about 140 lbs of luggage on the trip home. I had
commodorified and about 40 lbs of luggage (not a good idea, that was really not a good amount of weight to have that high up, and far back).
So my real adjustment is how light the bike feels, and how different city traffic is, compared to either the open interstate, or backcountry lanes.
