Or, "Dude, get over yourself."

A few weeks ago a saw a newspaper article about a serial killer having been a contestant on "The Dating Game" (no, he didn't mention it).

Right at the beginning was the only part of it which really got my attention.

"Before he was a convicted serial killer, Rodney Alcala was a winning bachelor on "The Dating Game."

"Oh yeah, I remember it quite clearly," said Jed Mills, the game-show contestant who sat next to Alcala in 1978. "He was creepy. Definitely creepy."

I can see that. Might make my skin crawl for a moment to know I'd been that close to someone who turned out to be that nasty. A stiff drink and a story to dine out on.

But not for Mister Mills, "a veteran television and film actor, whose only encounter with Alcala was when both of them appeared on "The Dating Game."

"That's when I became part of a nightmare, and I didn't realize it was a nightmare until 32 years later," Mills said.

Dude, if you didn't realize it... it wasn't that much of a nightmare. Trust me on this one.

I know that quite often, the 'turning point' for a serial killer or serial rapist is percieved rejection, but they really need to come up with a way of talking about it that doesn't blame the woman who may very well have saved herself!

After all, what if she had gone on that date. Maybe even a few dates. And THEN she figures out he's a bit...off...and stops dating him. Gee, then she's got him targetting on her even more.

It's worth pointing out the bastard had already been convicted of raping a child, so the profiler is being an ass when he makes it seem (even slightly) that this was the tipping point.
