You got it. They are practitioners of, "incomplete metamorphosis" They attach their rump (I think) to a leaf, and pull themselves into themselves, until they are a ynqlooveqorrgyr. Interestingly, they still do some sort of temperature regulation, because they can stand-up on the frilly bits.
