He's a professor of Criminal Justice. His website is Humint is pretty interesting, in it's own right.

Whiskey! We do that stuff here. :-) Although of course I have been known to elicit cries of distress from other Brits (I think the Scots would resort to outright violence) by telling them that I used my 16-yrs Lagavulin for some green peppercorn steaks... (It was late, I was hungry, and I didn't have any other whisky in the house. But gosh, were they good steaks.)

What... seems a perfectly reasonable thing to with with whisk(e)y. If you are going to cook, by God use the good stuff.

That's what I said. Especially since I don't drink, or enjoy, the stuff anyway (unless it's in hot milk and honey, which also leads to vocal outrage). But the strangled cries where very distressing to hear. Also, the Significant Other, whose Scottish roots are just two generations back, brought me some lowly stuff to cook with. And since I lost the job cooking with 16-yrs old single malt has become a lot less justifiable.
