All the greats had it. Ansel Adams had it. Margaret Bourke-White had it. Henri Cartier-Bresson had it.
Today, David Hume Kennerly has it. Roger Hicks and Frances Shultz have it.
I have it, and if you’ve spent any time in critical thought about your photography, you’ve wondered if you will ever have it.
You do. If you are trying to do more than grab snapshots, if you have shot so many as 500 frames of intentional photographs, you have it. It may be shaky, and ill-mannered, but you have, at least, the beginning of “eye.”
