Matters of faith and explication.
Jul. 17th, 2004 10:52 pmI don't tend to wear my religious beliefs on my sleeve (my politics tend to be far more visible), but I wish to commend to anyone who thinks the religious of the United States are all raving loons, full of bile and self-righteousness, the following.
Slacktivist
I do this not because I share his faith (Mine is religious leanings are more heterodox, and Catholic than his) but because he explains things (which I usually agree with) so well.
A liberal-minded, progressive evangelist, sharing what he sees as the good news.
Not preaching, not even asking that you agree, nor even that you listen. he offers hospitality, and example... hoping that these two things may persuade you of his belief's rightness. A man overflowing with compassion.
And if that fails, well he tried.
It's worth a few minutes of your time to try him out for size, at least once. His comments on why some Christians hate gays, but love bacon, will give you ammunition to smack down small-minded religious bigots, so, if you need more encouragement, let that be the reason.

Date: 2004-08-03 02:12 am (UTC)I just washed the basil, the pasta is drying; on hangars, waiting for me to boil water.
Tonight's menu (for the gustatorially lascivious) is
Fettuccine (Fresh, made at home) with pesto (from the basil in the half barrel) made with with white truffle oil.
Insalata Caprese: Fresh mozzarella (no buffala, one must have some fiscal restraint), Cherokee Black and some other odd tomato, Indian Basil (also from the half barrel)
Garlic Toasted Ciabatta
Bordeaux, or Gurwurtz.
I think Maia is making a chocolate cake.
