pecuniumI can't call this a "cease and desist" letter, because it's really a "compell and begin" letter.
This letter from Media Rights Technology (which is selling a DRM application) says they are telling Apple, Microsoft and Adobe to stop refusing to use their product.
The argument seems to be... MRT makes a DRM tool which works (and MRT will tell you all about it, I'm sure).
Adobe, Apple and Microsoft aren't using it.
Because they make up a huge slice of the market, they are in violation of the DMCA for not using this "stellar" product to protect people who are being ripped off by violations of copyright; which could have been prevented by said companies paying MRT lots of money for the privilege of bundling this software.
Now it happens I am irked with Nikon and HP, because they installed some program onto my machine, which makes a program I paid for unsuable, unless I allow a third party to install a patch onto my machine, so I'm not all that inclined to support this position.

Date: 2007-05-12 12:58 am (UTC)Depending on how you want to look at it, it either interfere's with nothing, or with everything.
If I launch it, the sytem crashes. A quick blue flash, and then the machine is off.
When I restart, I get told it's a known problem, and all I have to do is let some "anti-piracy" firm install something on my machine.

Date: 2007-05-14 01:37 am (UTC)I had another piece of software install PACE. The main thing I noticed was that my boot time became very long, so I deleted the PACE folder. Fortunately I don't need the software anymore. I resent having to be on-line so that some third party can confirm that I'm running a legit copy.
