I'd blame it on the catracts (the doctor seems to interpret "ripening nicely" differently than I do), or on the monitor, but four (maybe five) of these 21 shots work well for me, so it's nothing so general. Usually, with your photographs, it's more like nine out of ten that are delights. Can't quite pin down the reasons so many of these don't appeal, though partly it's that they seem diffuse ... in the non-technical sense of seeming cluttered or overly-filled with extraneous detail, like a novel padded-out into a trilogy.

Oh, yes.... it's interesting that you can work on something like this in class. I've known some people who could work on complex art while carrying on an intense conversation, and some who had a radio button and simply didn't register words when they're Doing Art.

So which five are they?

A lot of these are sort of busy, I am not completely happy with the mantis on the wisteria shots, because the play of light makes some distracting shadows, and the leaves are cluttery, but there's no good way to isolate them out.

I'm also doing some framing which isn't my preference, because I'm looking to get wall space at galleries with the prints, so some of the more orthodx rules are being used (I tend to be more center-weighted. It's part of why I like square formats), as well as having some extra space around the subjects, so I don't crowd the edges with the mattes.
