One of the things which makes Lj nice is that comment spammers have a harder time of taking advantage of it.

So far my means of preventing trolls from being able to just waltz in and fling poo have been prety good at stopping comment spam.

Actually, there hasn't been that much of it. But the attempts are picking up. Used to be that I'd get the odd comment, buried in some old post.

Then I got three of them, in a week, all attached to the same post, and that post only about asix-weeks old (which seemed odd, I don't know why a post about... oh wait, I mentioned poker, maybe that raised the visibility). Then this week, I started getting attempts on posts which are still fresh.

So far they've not managed to exploit the weakness in my system (I could screen all non "friends" posts, but I don't, and I don't want to) and get a free account and spew comment spam.

But I'll bet the vast numbers of dead blogs in Lj, aren't all like mine, and anonymous posts (with buried html, putting links on punctuation, and the like) are starting to proliferate.
