So they've gone and monkeyed with the layout again (I swear this sort of shit is done just to justify the jobs of people who are afraid they will be fired if all they do is keep the system running without flaws. I'd be perfectly happy to see old trains, if they ran on time. I don't need the engineers to spend time painting them just to look like they've been working).

I think it sucks, the banners across the top waste sceen space, are distracting and do damn all to make the place atractive to me. I am here for the gemütlicheit and that's all the ambience I need.

But today I went to find an old post, for some reference, and noticed the archive button seems to be missing. I have a direct link to ljseek but that's a sad substitute for being able to drift back along the current of thought to see what was going on, in times past.

Have I just failed to find it, in all the clutter now on my desktop, or did it go out with the bathwater?

On the top of your journal page, "Calendar View" will get you what I think you're looking for.

And they still can't get stuff like memories to work reliably.

I use the Lynx set up mostly because I got comfortable with it while I was on super low bandwidth in Iraq. But it's kinda my FUCK YOU to those idiots that run this site. Do I really need to be able to preview my userpics before I make a post? I try and search something on here and it returns ICONS. I don't want 100 icons per page, I want a long list, in alphabetical order.

If I hadn't been writing on here for two years and if it wasn't already hosting several hundred photos for me I'd so be out of this LJ thing. They're a bunch of douches with their heads squarely up their collective asses.

Yeah, the fact of having a personal investment in the place is part of why I haven't abandoned ship.

Imposing various bits of cute (like the international talk like a pirate day) is annoying. It's part and parcel of what I was asking about. They created a new style. Good on 'em, but I want to opt into it, not take a look at managing my account (only because there were things which were flagrantly obnoxious to me) and fail to see the old version, so that opting out required help.

If I'd wanted a different style, I'd have done it before. If I want the new style I like to think I'm smart enough to figure it out too.

It's like the damn "Navigation Bar". Guess what, I know how to post, if I didn't I'd be in a sorry boat. I also know how to read the people here I want to read. I don't need a seeing-eye dog in the form of irritating help, forced on me.
