1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
5. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.
The handle, set low, was was again of rattan binding with leather to give grip. Most yumi were lacquered black, as with sword saya, both to strengthen it and as a protection from moisture. The tsuru, or string, was made of plant fibre, usually hemp, and coated with wax.

Date: 2006-08-14 01:27 am (UTC)[(For some flavor of "sentence".) Okay, I finally broke down and got one of these newfangled Digital Cameras (Canon PowerShot S3 IS) and a (not-especially-good) For Dummies book to try to get some idea of how to use it, before the upcoming WorldCon. (I've had SLR & 35 mm cameras in the far-distant past, but the auto-focus and digital aspects are new. I expect the main problem will be that the software requires OSX, and the last time I tried shifting to that (from OS 9.2) on my Macintosh was semi-disastrous.... but that can be put off until after the Con.) Normally, the closest book would be an ethnic or historical mystery, or science-fiction.
Well, the Hayden Elgin book was the closest.
