The American Family Association has a push poll, asking if PBS should get public monies.

They, perforce, are agin' it.

Go here and take a moment to share your views, whatever they be.

If you give them a valid e-mail address, they will keep you informed of the things which interest them. They are very good about giving the e-mail address of the people they have form letters for.

If you don't want to give your actuall state, 20500 is in Virginia.

took the poll...interesting, they link to an "Agape Press." On my campus, the Agape group is widely considered to be a cult.

I recently read a very nice definition of cult... it can't laugh at itself.

20500 is a very specific zip code. A single building. In Langley.

That would be 20505.

20500 is a single building in the District of Columbia. The address is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

20755 is in Maryland (Ft. Meade (NSA))

20301 is in Arlington, VA -- The Pentagon.

Typo, working too fast.

Which is bad, because while the thought of them thinking lots of people who get mail at the White House being in opposition to them is wonderful, I don't think they'll believe it.

Mind you, these are the same people who think a small minority of people managed to highjack their poll on gay marriage, so we can be fairly certain they aren't as net-savvy as they might be.

I have an e-mail account I set up, with 20505 as my zip-code.

When I use that account as info, I hten get swamped with re-finance offers for homes in Langley. That and christian dating services.

I still have yet to figure out what makes for a Christian Lender. Will they forgive my debt, "yea, up to seventy times seven?" If so, I may look into borrowing some money.

I use 20755 -- the NSA in Maryland -- for that purpose.

That sure is some non-prejudicial wording they've got there!

I said it was a push poll.

And while I do think most of my readership would be in favor of PBS, I wasn't going to go so far as to point out the default setting is against it.

That felt too much like leading the witness.

Oh, I know...I went there expecting obnoxious wording, but for some reason I didn't expect it to be quite as obnoxious as it turned out to be. More the fool I, really, considering the source.

Arrggghhhh!

Arrrghh not only being my reaction to seeing their poll and its wording (at which I echo the other comments above) but -- in my haste to create a suitable alternate email address, I accidentally pressed "submit" before I'd changed the setting on the question itself, so that I told them a New Yorker actually agreed with their position =:-(

Seeing nothing else to do, I went back as my deceased grandmother and voted YES, FORCE US TO SUPPORT PBS in order to cancel out my accidental agreement, and then again as a deceased aunt in order to post the YES for myself I meant to send them all along.

Clearly one needs more than a single cup of coffee onboard before confronting the Forces of Evil.
