Liberal Tough Guy dotcom

Forget the picture of the Quad .50 (which is cool, in a gun-geek kind of way) and read the text.

I've no beef with social Liberalism but economic Liberalism is True Liberalism and must come first. I'll put it to ya like this: what some Mexican-American janitor needs is to be paid $25 an hour, not to have bi-lingual education for his kids or a translator at the Secretary of State's office. Get the money and the rest will follow.

There is a lot of truth to that.

A great site. He makes a good point about gun-control legislation, though doesn't address we who grew up in the inner-city and don't enjoy living with the sounds of gunfire in our neighborhoods.

I grew up in those inner cities (just outside of East L.A.) and that argument carries no real weight with me.

The cause of that is not the guns. It is the discontent, the silly ways in which we deal with drugs, and the relative lack of prospect to make a decent living.

Since most of the gunfire is the result of drug money/trade, and the sense that a gang is one's best protection from the hostile environment, changing those will end the rattle of gunshots.

Banning them won't work. Look at Britain (which I choose rather than NYC, or Wash., DC because they are an island. One can't casually nip down to Virg. and bring one back). They've banned guns. They have seen an increase in gun crime.

Heck, we banned (effectively) guns in Iraq. That's been a blinding success.

I never said banning was the answer. (You might be surprised at my views on gun control.) But liberaltoughguys's "just let the boys have their toys" view doesn't carry a lot of weight with people who grow up dodging gunfire. At least, not me.
