Another year is wending its way to close, as the days begin; once again, to lengthen and the California spring begins.

It's been a year of ups and downs (some literal, as the scar on my knee attests). Emotionally, I'm doing pretty well. My sweeties (Marna and CG) and the people around them (Rayne, Ian, D, Ther Cat and Aaron) have been props against despair. Chris and Zoe were (though logistics kept it from continuing) instrumental in my return to Calif..

Les has been the best housemate ever. Between her, Marna and CG I am forced to keep myself in better care than I would, if left to my own devices. All of them have, in their differing ways, been props to my moods, encouragements to my better nature, and prevented various slides into the Slough of Despond.

Facebook has been a blessing, and a curse. The medium is not suited to me, and all it seems truly good for is games; I have better ways to spend my time, but some of those games have proven addictive. I am working on that.

The flip side, the bit that makes it more than worthwhile is the people I've not been in touch with for decades, whom I have found, or who have found me. For that we sing praises.

Maia has convinced me that something I was toying with, is doable. My course of study is no longer aimed at a generic BS in geology, but an MS in Occupational Therapy. It's not as sudden a thing as it might seem. I'd discussed how interesting it was to me when she was taking it, but that was when it was beyond our means to manage. With my being in the Bay, and San Jose State having a combined BA/MS program, I can do it before I turn fifty (and, more importantly, without taking on a huge load of non-dischargable debt). So with the New Year I'll be fighting to get a late-admit to the next start date. That, or figuring out how to cover a year-long delay in my plans (which is to say, taking a hiatus before transfer, so my GI Bill doesn't do weird things).

Without this blog, and a few other venues (Making Light, I most definitely mean you), I don't think I'd be in so healthy a place. All of you (the active, the occaisional, and even the lurkers) are a support I couldn't do without.

Thank you to all, and God Bless us, Everyone.

My acquaintance with you and Marna is one of the relatively few good things to come out of this decade. All hail Making Light!

Oh, wow. I mean, I know what HE did, but I don't think I ever did much of anything to rate that.

I likes you too. Lots.

I've admired you from afar in other people's comment pages for a loooong time! I should have told you before.

Yes, the decade. Making Light and the friends I found there rank right up at the top along with finishing school and getting nephews and goddaughters.

Those sound like good plans.

If I have had some small part in helping you get here, I'm glad of it, and you are very welcome.

Here you share the beauty of your photos and the nature around you.
here and at ML you often have thoughtful posts and comments on things that a lot of people don't know about / don't understand.

Keep it up and hold on to hope. The new year is coming. Im also hoping for postivie changes. I'm likely starting with the IRS Feb. 1 barring any security check issues (don't think I have any, I'm pretty boring).

Though right now we're peering out from under a snow bank... (I live in Kansas City, MO. We were in Lawrence visiting family last night and battled our way home, obviously safely, but today at mom's, also in Lawrence, is probably a wash.)
