There are people worrying about Black Magic being done in Kenya to keep McCain from winning.

Dear friends:

THIS IS EXTREMELY SERIOUS.

Minutes ago I spoke with friend Dr. Norman G. Marvin, M.D. and he is so concerned at what he has learned about Barack Obama's family in Kenya that he is calling a special prayer meeting in his home to pray against the witchcraft curses attempted by them against John McCain and Sarah Palin.

Dr. Marvin sent me the below e-mail from Flo Ellers. Flo is credentialed with the International Fellowship of Ministries which is based in Washington State. She is also a member of EndTime Handmaidens and Servants of Jasper, Arkansas.

IF YOU KNOW HOW TO DO SPIRITUAL WARFARE, PLEASE PRAY TODAY AND CONTINUALLY THAT ALL SUCH CURSES BE BROKEN AND SATAN'S PLAN FOR AMERICA BE DEFEATED, IN JESUS' NAME. PRAY AND COVER MCCAIN AND PALIN WITH THE BLOOD OF CHRIST. IF YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DO SPIRITUAL WARFARE, IT IS TIME YOU LEARN!!!

Jim

So there you have it... the Forces of Eeeevil! Are rooting for Obama. Don't believe it...?

From Flo Ellers. Excerpt. (Emphasis supplied in bold and underlines.)

Two days ago, I listened to a 9-6-08 message by Bree Keyton, a young woman evangelist who had just traveled to Kenya and visited Obama's home village and what she found out about his relations with his tribal people was chilling. And his "cousin" Odinga was dreadful. She said the witches, warlocks and those involved in satanism and the occult get up daily at 3 a.m. to release curses against McCain and Palin so B. Hussein Obama is elected.

Look at the nasty little racsist crap in there... B Hussien Obama He doesn't use that form of his name (as someone who uses a diminutive of my middle name I may be a bit oversensitive to that, but it's not honestly done), but they do. It lets them imply he's muslim, and reminds people of terrorism.

Then there's the "home village" crap. Obama's home is Hawaii. He's not from Africa (if he were he'd be ineligble to run for president). So they get the two-fer of "foriegn, not like us" and "nor a real american"

And it's terrible theology. The rest of it is just words fail me... a twisted mish-mosh of rumors and unsubtantiable fairy tales of genie worship (thus making Obama a bad Muslim, or false Christian, and a supporter of Black Magick). The mind (my mind at least) boggles.

I cannot fathom this being taken seriously, but I am sure it is.

Ah, but have you heard the relevant nutball theory: that he is from Africa and is ineligible to be President? How his mother got to Africa from Hawaii to give birth to him they don't say. They keep finding something sinister in his not having released his Hawaiian birth certificate. He has released it, but somehow it doesn't count. They even find something sinister in his visiting his sick grandmother. Apparently they think he's going to sneak into the state records office and replace his birth certificate.

Yes, I have. I thought I was making a plain enough comparison.

I didn't include the, actual, question about McCain's eligibilty to run, because of his birth in the Canal Zone, and the quirks of the laws of the year in which he was born.

But...but wait! I thought he was an Arab! Which is it? African, Arab, or European?

Funny how you never hear black people mutter 'he's half-white'.

As a Witch, I find this incredibly offensive. Perhaps Obama does have relatives praying he will be elected. I would, if I were in their position. But if someone you don't like is praying for something you don't want to happen, it becomes EVIL BLACK MAGIC.

Of course. Because all magic is the Devil's Work, don't'cha know? We swim in blood and sacrifice virgins to Satan. Oh, wait, you mean the dancing naked and praying to the Goddess isn't just a clever marketing ploy? Daaaaaang.... I guess I'll have to go and join the real Satanists, eh? ;-)

My eyes would roll out of my skull if I hadn't heard even more pointlessly ignorant blather elsewhere.

ditto!

I was going to reply with my PaganOutrage, but you stated it so well I will just say thank you for saying it better than I would have.

This could actually work out well. Convince evangelical McCain supporters to stay home and fight the "spirit war" in prayer-space instead of going out and volunteering.

You mean beating themselves up and blaming it on Obama supporters? ;)

...but... I do get up at 3 o'clock to curse McCain. Actually, I've been cursing him throughout the day, turning the air blu... oh. 3AM. Not that kind of cursing.

Okay, never mind.

Reading this at 2:20 a.m., I was thinking along those same lines.

The people who believe this sort of thing are hopelessly lost in their own little delusional world. It would be funny, if it weren't so scary, and there weren't so many of them.

I want to laugh at this but I know people who would gladly eat this kind of thing up and ask you to feed them more of the same bullshit.
I cannot believe the sheer amount of craaaaazy coming out in this election.

The sheer idiocy would explode my brain if I hadn't run into stuff like that before- some of it aimed at me.

I've never had one of them give me a definition of 'the occult' or actually find 'it' and point 'it' out to me. I guess that 'the occult' is anything outside their church doors.

The 3AM thing makes me laugh- 3 AM where? When? How? What's the setup, what's the method, who is being invoked? They never give these details, which tells me that they're inventing things from scraps of stolen scans of old moldy grimoires- which are actually magically worthless, filled as they are with all sorts of booby traps for the unwary and stupid.

Hey, I am a genuine 'occultist' (I prefer metaphysician, actually), and a long-time student of the same (32 years). I can spot religious bullshitters a mile away. And I terrify them when, after they start spouting their nonsense, I start asking them technical questions like that- they back away like I have rabies or something or fear that I'll curse them. Don't need to- the fear-filled world they live in is curse enough. I do not need- or want- to add to it. They have their very own demons to play with.

You know, I'm reminded of being in elementry/junior high and how the halls were filled with skuttlebutt about how if "X" gets elected then something dire would happen. The most popular calamity was having to go to school on Saturdays.

EndTime Handmaidens

Band name or OMG Wacked Out Left Behind Cultists With No Sense of Irony?

Add this to the Palin thing with hanging out with witch hunters, and it's time to party like it's 1692.

Had you heard that Palin was blessed by a Bishop from Africa who is well known for having driven witches from where he lives? I heard the story on NPR, from a journalist that works for the Anchorage news paper. Palin has apparently stated that his blessing is what allowed her to win her last election. Even if it isn't true, it was an interesting story.

I, for one, am flabergasted.

And for the record, as a witch, I have never bothered to get up at 3 am to curse McCain and Palin...they aren't worth the time and loss of sleep. Karma, and the fact that people aren't voting for them in the droves that they obviously expected, will take care of them. Curses aren't necessary.

The only "curse" I would put on McCain and Palin would be for all the hatred they've broadcast to come home to roost. Some pagans I know wouldn't even do that, but praying for someone to discover the Threefold Law is within my ethical boundaries.

While *WE* are not stupid enough or frightened enough or easily led to believe these lies, the GOP 'dirty tricksters' (Think Donald Segretti or Chuck Colson in the Nixon White house, Karl Rove is their progeny) the seriously fearful will.
They are not people likely to question what they are told, because that would be questioning faith.
And have no doubt, they are VERY AFRAID. They cannot control their worlds, their kids are doing and saying things that are not what they envisioned, and they need to have their religion hold them up-- which means holding IT UP for everyone.

This has been going on since the Reagan years-- we have allowed the zealots to raise up a nation of closed minded folks that will believe anything.
Anything.
