I like to think of myself as being somewhat more center than Left, or Right (and Lord know that looking at any one of my opinions can give one a very skewed idea of where my politics lie. I am Pro-choice {as a social issue, for my personal life... well I'm glad I've not been in a position to have to make a personal decision}, which gets me painted left. I am also pro-gun, which gets me painted right. No man is made all of a piece).

But the "C"onservative side of the aisle gives me great pause. In public writings I tend to come off more left that I probably am, because I am so often appalled and wroth at the things those who argue for the farther right say.

Which is why books like Brock's "Blinded by the Right" interest me. I know that he is seen as a traitor, a liar and worse by those whose movement he has left.

But then I see this, http://www.lawandpolitics.com/minnesota/default.asp?section=ARTICLES&module=ITEM&id=156

Where Philip Gold explains why he is no longer able to call himself a member of the Conservative Movement.

Thoughtful, restrained even (and it helps that he says, better than I can, and from the position of one who was seen as well-placed and, "inside.") he details not only what he sees as wrong with the Far Right, but tries to point a direction for those who are not on the Far Anyside to go.

I only wish I thought there were enough people who are willing to head, "out there," with him.
