Ah, the way the world turns
May. 14th, 2006 09:29 amI have just discovered (in the occasional session of Google-boo) a long-standing acquaintance of mine, has declared me; in a public forum, to be not merely a memeber of the "lunatic left" but one of some danger.
In some ways this is annoying. No one likes to think of themselves as beyond reason (though I have known this person to so think me for years. I very much misdoubt that my comparing him [a self-declared libertarian a pagan, who supports Bush, favors the pro-fetus position and spends lots of time bearding creationists in their dens In his words he's "not quite a Ronald Reagan, Carl Sagan pagan] a fundamentalist when he shifted his goalposts, yet again, and redefined, "objective" in an attempt to prove to me that my experience and understanding of journalism was wrong and the press is hopelessly biased to the left and nothing it says about politics can be taken at face value because they are all trying to sabotage rational conservatism to further the leftist agenda. I chose that specific insult because 1: I was irked, 2: the style of argument he was using was decidely reminiscent of fundies defending creationism; and the like, and I wanted him to know just what I was thinking).
So Karl went to the effort of saying I was representative of the "Lunatic Left" here his blog on Mens' News Daily.
So, there is bemusement that I am someone he feels some need to belittle, in public (and I wonder how much of my reaction is personal, and how much is at the summa of it) and the pride that he says, Why pick on this fellow? To be sure, he’s not a major pundit, but he has a following, I’ve had friends cite his writings as somehow authoritative. He has a fairly large number of readers of his Live Journal. Based on numbers of comments to his posts, quite a few more than I have.
And frankly, his way of thinking seems to be a very good representative sample of that of the Lunatic Left. Therefore, I present it for your consideration.
Some of the amusement comes from his detailed listing of all my complaints about Alito (which was the reason for his posting about my stuff). So, for those who might not have had any likelihood of finding it, he made it possible. Even if the odds of them following the links to see what I really had to say was slim.
The truth, I wish my way of thinking was representative. Sadly, it ain't.
