Frustrated

Mozilla has an update for Firefox, and a new version.

Silly me, I used them.

When the update borked, I loaded the new version, which was worse. So now I need to figure out how to either make one of them work, or reload 1.5.whatever I had before the most recent update.

But, while I have a laundry list of my bookmarks, I can't seem to import them.

Which is annoying enough, but one of the things I really liked about the way I'd tricked out my browser was the tab layout. I'd tried individual buttons for each tab, and decided I didn't like it. Took up visual space, and made me look to see which one I was closing, as well as requiring more mouse movement (which, because of my disease I prefer, even with a trackball, to avoid when I can. I spend too much time on the computer, as it is, and anything which reduces tendon/ligament usage is to be taken advantage of).

So I am back to bleepin' IE for the moment, while I try to figure out how to fix this fiasco.

Which pisses me off, because I have a post I'm working on, with pictures, and this is just getting in the way, because I am so irked at not having my things working properly, and so disturbing my workflow (it's amazing how we habituate. I have developed rythms, and methods, for posting, which take particular advantage of the structure od Firefox) that I can't concentrate as it deserves.

feh!

If you want a single close button for tabs (like in 1.5) go to about:config (type "about:config" in the location bar) and set browser.tabs.closeButtons to 3. I also like to set browser.tabs.tabMinWidth to 0 so that it doesn't give me the scrollable tabs.

Ghu! This is frustrating (because I've developed habits, and worse, expectations, about how things will behave (like being logged in when a new window/tab is opened; which even if IE supports, I don't trust), which is why I am posting this for the second time.

That's one help. I don't know what you mean by scrollable tabs, so either it doesn't bother me, or I've not got it.

Now, if only I could get Firefox to open a webpage, any webpage, I'd be closer to happy.
