We are still prepping to go (don't ask... this is going almost as smoothly as I expected, and we may not be leaving until tomorrow).
The plea for help has to do with LJ styles.
See I like the default S1 style for the friend's page.
I'd also like to be able to use tags, and have a sidebar for those who want to hit my page directly.
From all I have been able to manage, this seems incompatable.
The S2 form of "Clean and Simple" is not really like the S1. The user icons are on the other side, there is some squishing, because it gives one a pointless gutter on the left, with useless color.
I liked having the icon on the left, where I could see it straight away. I might like it at the top, so I can ID the writer of long posts without having to scroll up and back, but that's not a big deal. Most people write short enough pieces that this is rarely a problem, and for those few who write long; most of them have a background color, so I know who they are anyway (the vast majority of you are plain, since the vast majority of you write short. There are a few, near and dear, who get special colors because they are special, and I like to know they have written something, but I digress).
So, what I want is to know how to make the Friend's page look like S1, no matter what I do to the layout of my page. I can diddle that one myself. Given incentive I can be a clever monkey.
