Disappearing
Jun. 16th, 2005 11:29 pmI won't be around for the next couple of weeks, perhaps as long as three.
For the first time in I don't know how long I am actually taking a vacation-like trip.
Ten of us (well, eleven, but don't tell the Park Service, a single person; with his own permit, will be walking with us), are heading into the Paria with horses and mule to carry most of the load (much of which is food for said horses and mules).
The photographic opportunities are supposed to be glorious, so I bought another couple of gigs of memory for the camera.
It's a six day trip, and the first day is a ten-mile, or so, trek. We have to go that far or we don't have water. The people might be able to make it overnight, but not the equines. After that it seems we are looking at 2-4 miles per day. I am not certain but I get the impression this is slow going on flat ground. Details can been seen here.
I know, flat out, that I shan't be able to catch up. Even if I strip the list down to a very short (relative to the number of people on my f-lists) number of people, LJ only lets one go back 1,000 posts. There are some people I will read individually, but there are too many (not that I am
mactavish) for me to go and read all of you one at a time.
When I get back, you can all bomb me with the posts you think I need to know, things I must have missed (two weeks with no politics, bliss, and horror) and the like.
Take care.
