I stumbled on this one awhile back, and doing some blogrolling I was reminded of it. The thing I find most interesting about it is that 1: I agree, generally, with the results, and two, having taken it some three or four times, it has been quite consistent.

Which means that whoever put it together did a nice job of figuring out the need for both enough information, and factoring the variables to even things out.

Since so many of these quizes seem to be victims of short sets of questions, and painfully forced choices (the one on what poet/author I was was painful. There wasn't more than one question where the answer was actually me, rather than the least wrong of the choices).

Here is it is.
I Am A: True Neutral Half-Elf Ranger

Alignment:
True Neutral characters are very rare. They believe that balance is the most important thing, and will not side with any other force. They will do whatever is necessary to preserve that balance, even if it means switching allegiances suddenly.

Race:
Half-Elves are a cross between a human and an elf. They are smaller, like their elven ancestors, but have a much shorter lifespan. They are sometimes looked down upon as half-breeds, but this is rare. They have both the curious drive of humans and the patience of elves.

Primary Class:
Rangers are the defenders of nature and the elements. They are in tune with the Earth, and work to keep it safe and healthy.

Secondary Class:
Monks are strange and generally not understood by the world at large. They live apart from people, and follow strict codes that restrain their behavior and lifestyle. They have an exceptionally calm outlook on life, and generally do not resort to violence unless absolutely necessary. Even when they do, their code of conduct forbids the use of all weapons - except their hands. As such, monks are extremely skilled at hand-to-hand combat, and no other style.

Deity:
Silvanus is the True Neutral god of nature. He is also known as the Patron of Druids. His followers believe in the perfect balance of nature, and believe that nature's bounty is preferable to any other 'civilizing' method. They wear leather or metallic scale mail, constructed of leaf-shaped scales. Silvanus's symbol is an oak leaf.

I like to think of myself as being somewhat more center than Left, or Right (and Lord know that looking at any one of my opinions can give one a very skewed idea of where my politics lie. I am Pro-choice {as a social issue, for my personal life... well I'm glad I've not been in a position to have to make a personal decision}, which gets me painted left. I am also pro-gun, which gets me painted right. No man is made all of a piece).

But the "C"onservative side of the aisle gives me great pause. In public writings I tend to come off more left that I probably am, because I am so often appalled and wroth at the things those who argue for the farther right say.

Which is why books like Brock's "Blinded by the Right" interest me. I know that he is seen as a traitor, a liar and worse by those whose movement he has left.

But then I see this, http://www.lawandpolitics.com/minnesota/default.asp?section=ARTICLES&module=ITEM&id=156

Where Philip Gold explains why he is no longer able to call himself a member of the Conservative Movement.

Thoughtful, restrained even (and it helps that he says, better than I can, and from the position of one who was seen as well-placed and, "inside.") he details not only what he sees as wrong with the Far Right, but tries to point a direction for those who are not on the Far Anyside to go.

I only wish I thought there were enough people who are willing to head, "out there," with him.
