AFA Update
Apr. 13th, 2005 07:32 pmRight now they want you to tell your senators what you think about ending the present rules on filibustering.
Me, I'm against such a change, because, even were I of the opinion that the handful of judges the president is trying to ram down the throats of the nation ought to be confirmed, I don't think the destruction of amity, and the abuse of power; by way of making the Senate's role in terms of consent a dead-letter, no more than a rubber stamp, is a good idea.
I certainly don't think the arrogance of it, re-submitting judges who have been denied in the past, and then deciding that, since the rules weren't quite what they he wanted, that they ought to chance, as if the interests of the nation were something on the order of a giant game of Calvin Ball.
But, that isn't the important thing, the important thing is to let your senators know how you feel on the subject.
You can find your senators by going to Senate Contacts. No matter which side of the issue you're on, contacting them directly is going to be more effective than using the AFA's form.
