So, the other boarding housemate left today... off to Ariz.

Which means Barkley left as well. I liked Barkley, as semi-spoiled indoor-allowed dogs go, he was all right. I could have lived without his licking my hand as I walked by, and the blonde hair on the couch, but he was ok.

On the other hand, I was able to give Oliver a treat he has not been able to enjoy for some time... a tennis ball.

Sara the Wonder Dog (tm) like tennis balls. She likes to chomp on them, and feel them burst. Then she likes to chase them, and chew them, and play tug of war with them.

Oliver likes to own them. This sense of ownership is how, the much larger Griz, got his lip bitten and needed half a dozen stitches... he tried to pick up a tennis ball in Oliver's immediate vicinity.

Which meant I wasn't going to give any to him while Barkley (who is a fair bit smaller than Oliver) was around to, perhaps, have a small discussion about ownership with him.

Oliver also hasn't been able to really enjoy them for the past year or so, because he has been living on a chain. No longer on a chain, and no longer with the possibility of conflict (Token looks at tennis balls and then me, as if to say, "That's not a fox. What do you expect me to do with it?").

Maia's grandmother, for reasons not known to god, nor man, had a huge stash of tennis balls. I gave one to Oliver today. Later I heard odd scrabbling noises, and they didn't stop. So I took the flashlight, went into the now empty room (because they sounded like a dog trying to disassemble something made of wood. I thought perhaps Token was chewing on the Mouse House (tm) or worse, attcking one of my half-barrels.

The light caught Oliver by surprise, dismantling the pallet which holds a half-barrel With about 35gls of water and some goldfish, as well as being the step, and lock for the pallet which keeps the dogs away from the rodents). I went out and found that he'd completely removed almost all the slats not under the barrel.

Then it hit me... the tennis ball was under the pallet.

When I release him after his dinner, I'll take him a second one.

Mactavish is the probable culprit, because I think she's mentioned me lately.

2 dogs (American Standard Bulldog... we think: Oliver, English Foxhound, papered; neutered: Token).

Two horses, local, and (a couple of hundred miles away) two more horses one adult mule, one juvenile mule, and two mule foals (about three months old).

Roughly 40 snakes, of seven species, aged from three months to, roughly five years. Corn snakes, Western Hognose, East African Sand Boa, Yellow Rat Snake, California Gopher Snake, African House Snake and Ball Python. The first two we have babies, the first three we have multiple adults.

Down south is where the chickens live, as well as the geese. We no longer keep Guinea Pigs.
