Yup, good to have a little camera that can be used to take pictures you won't get if you have to maneuver the big camera. An accessible holster is also good! Bonus points if you can find one with a shape that is secure and operable with gloves on...this from my experience documenting trailwork.
I tend to go with used equipment off eBay, so there is less concern over the possibility of smashing something expensive.
