One of the things being done is attempts to Sabotage town halls.

To that end one of the groups hoping to stall, or just outright kill, improvements to our healthcare system has put together a list of town halls for the summer

Take a look. If there is one you can get to, go. Take a friend (or ten). Get there early, sit down front. Fill the place. Ask polite question about things like single payer, and make comparisons to medicare, and the DoD.

[livejournal.com profile] spiritualmonkey and I are going to go to at least one of these.

Have you come across any suggestions for ways to convey "I support talk, not shouting (and by the way, I'm in favor of single-payer health care)"? Things to wear or not wear, signs to carry, that sort of thing...

Adam Smith is holding his in Lakewood, which is I guess is sort of a midpoint for the ridiculous straggling I-5 mess thant is WA 9, but it's also within striking distance for the less enlightened sort of military retirees (because, you are a rare and special person, Terry, and while not unique, the guy with the US Army Retired license plate holder on his F350 and double anti-Obama bumper stickers who was parked next to us last night at the University Place Trader Joe's is going to be there, I'll bet, in full voice and with his poker buddies).

They'll make a lot of noise, Smith will sit there, as colorless as his name, the local media will cover it and it'll make no difference in the long run; the votes in the Ninth fall to the retired teachers and the Boeing workers afraid that the company will take manufacturing to a right-to-work state, and the increasing number of second-generation hispanic and Pacific Islander kids who went to school with my two young-adult offspring and are voting left.

Julia, Tim Eyman has been making a loud noise for the cameras forso long that there's no shock value left.
