For me the start of the holiday season is Hallowe'en. It's the first occaision of the year which seems to be a huddling together against the gathering dark. It's a last celebration of the faded summer, and a peering into the gloom which is mid-winter. It may be the lack of snow which comes of living in Southern California has something to do with it, but that's the way it feels to me.

Which means, among other, things, the solstice/new year sorts of holidays are coming. Which means you might be thinking of sending people cards. If you are, I have just the thing. I'm offering the up four pictures as cards (though truth be told, those who want to choose a specific design can, it will cost a little more, because I've not done the set up; and some photos will require different sorts of papers (square designs are possible, but they have to go on square papers.

Go take a look at Holiday Cards and think about it.

Please, by the way, link to this post, or that one.

I will be mentioning it again, since time is a factor and those who think about it now, might lose track of it before they get to ordering. I beg your indulgence.

(addendum: Demand for a sq. card is high enough that I am offering Currants, Kiev in that format.

Being more than slightly broke, we'll probably be hand-making the few cards we send out this year, but I loved seeing the images you've chosen. The pelican is especially fun; I'm trying to remember why it seems an appropriate Christmas image (even as I enjoy the fact that it's not blatantly religious), but I'm drawing a blank.

I would love cards of either "Fresh and Withered" or of "Currants", whichever could be square. How much would that be with setup? (F&W, in particular, seems right for the year's turn.)

I figure that the holidays have begun because I got the latest e-mail newsletter. They're really down on people saying "Happy Holidays" so they've got button for sale reading "It's Okay To Say Merry Christmas".

To which I thought "And It's Okay Not To".

The pictures would indeed make nice cards. Re the pelican, the bird does have connections with Christianity (http://www.religionfacts.com/christianity/symbols/pelican.htm). It gives the image a nice connection to the season without being overtly religious.

Thank you. I knew there was something. :)

I suspect I did know that, but it wasn't in my mind at all. Choosing the cards was hard, because I wanted something which has appeal, but isn't overtly connected to the specific holidays.

The pelican was one which, for technical reasons, almost didn't make the cut.

Give me a bit to look at them (and price the sq. stock, which may be more than I think as I may not be able to get it locally). I suspect F&W (which I thought about... it would make great Hallowe'en/Thanksgiving cards), isn't going to go sq easily, but I'll get back to you.

How many cards do you want?. That affects price too (IIRC, they come in packets of 10, and 50).

I would like 20-30 of either "Fresh and Withered" or "Currents," if that helps. (If it doesn't work out, I'll go with the pelican....)
