It's been a busy week, or three.

I'm back from Seattle (no, his leg is not mended, but he's doing better, and with his mother there to help... I could head back to LA, and so to the things I need to be doing... like helping with the move from San Luis Obispo, back to Pasadena, for the summer).

We're packing. This wasn't supposed to happen, the place was going to be where we stayed until Maia finished school here (and perhaps until she chose a graduate program). If the roommates couldn't handle me (or it was just too crowded) we might have moved somewhere local, but that would've been easy.

Nope, the landlady had someone dangle money in her eyes, and so decided to put the house on the block. Never mind that they didn't have it, and certainly not the amount she's asking (I think, based on what I've seen of the local market, she's asking between 200-250 thousand more than the place is worth), nope, if they wanted it, someone else would too.

So the snakes, and the dogs, and the horses and a fair bit of household stuff is all headed south again. The rest of it is in a room, and some garage space a a friend's up here. We'll have to look for a place come the new term.

In some ways this is better, because it means we aren't shuffling back and forth between here, and obligations/desires down south (there are two mule foals due on 8 Aug, and she wants to be there, but she, and the rest of her family are going to Amherst for a Quaker shindig in the first week of July, so someone has to look in one the horses, the mules, the chickens, the geese and the dog, which means someone else would have to look after the snakes and the dogs, not a huge trial... were she keeping the place, snakes need water, {and any eggs moved an incubator) and the dogs need to be fed) but now all will in one place).

In others, well moving sucks, and knowing we have to move again in three months, well that sucks too.

I will have some real commentary on things that matter more (because this is a passing tribulation) soon, maybe even this evening.

I swear, there's a virus in the air or something. My landlady decided to sell her house to a friend who just got kicked out by her husband. Never mind that I've been here five years and she said she'd give me first crack if she decided to sell. Nooooooooooo. And she gave me only 30 days notice. But then I read your journal and think, "well, at least I only have four cats to move. Think how much worse it would be if there was *livestock* involved."

I hate having to move twice like that... your entire life is in boxes and it feels as if everything is on hold until the second move. Good luck, and I hope everything goes well.
