I am now running, thanks to geekchick, all praise be unto her, 1.5.08.

Apart from losing one password (to my slave account for messages to Lj) all seems to be in order.

I'll try loading 2.0, again, sometime in the future.

Now to make the cheese and tarragon omelette, and brew another pot of coffee, before I crunch the pictures from this weekend,and bore you all with comments on composition.

I found ff2's tabs handling less than ideal. I recommend trying Tab Mix Plus, although it has a small cosmetic defect on MacOSX (not on Windows, which I also use.) It also has a session manager which is very convenient, especially on ff1.5. It'll restore all your tabs if firefox crashes or if you reboot your computer. ff2 also has a session manager, but as I haven't played with it much, I can't compare it to Tab Mix Plus' session manager.

I'd also recommend at least trying del.icio.us for bookmarks. It'll allow you to get to your bookmarks from any computer, and share them with friends (although there's a "do not share" option to make individual bookmarks private). The two best extensions for del.icio.us are del.icio.us Bookmarks, which loads the del.icio.us save tag page from the network, so it's a little slower than del.icio.us post, which loads the save tag page locally, but only the former lets you mark the bookmark as private.
