Huh. I used to pass that building all the time; in fact I used to pass that building when several left-wing/anti-war organizations were quartered there, although I never went in, and according to David McReynolds wouldn't have seen anything if I had.

Beautiful.

Noticed how the Bradbury Building was also featured in "Demon with a Glass Hand"?

Wow, that's just fantastic. It will really be something to see once it's all done up! I'm so glad the owners want to restore it, and not just strip it bare. Good luck to them, I say.

Wow. I sure hope they do that building justice. That's treasure.

Oh my. I have got to keep an eye out for pictures of the place once it's restored.

Thanks for pointing that out: it is a beautiful example of design. I find myself looking at those office with light from the atrium or light from outside thinking how humane a workspace it might have been.

That's gorgeous. Given the propensity New York has for destroying beautiful buildings outright, I'm amazed and thrilled that it survived this long.

Plus, I have an affection for Beekman Place, given that it's where the Auntie Mame books take place.

Do you know the Forgotten web sites? Search on "forgotten [place name]" and find such sites as www.forgotten-ny.com.

Ooh, neat. I love the balcony dragons.

Wow. The visuals are wonderful, but the concept of an abandoned building of that footprint in that place is what sets my imagination afire.

Wow, that's a spectacular building.

I hope it's restored to it's former glory.

Thanks for putting this up, Terry.

I sent this URL to a friend who lives in NYC, who has since reported back to me that the pictures are no longer up. Someone demanded they be taken off the website. I'm glad I saw them when I did.

It appears the owners asked them be taken down. I'm not quite sure of the legal standing (they probably can, because it wasn't open to the public), but even if they didn't have the right, he's got a living to make and they could make it harder.

But don't look at the comments there; people are amazing, and the ability to tie everything to stupid politics is incredible (as in I don't really believe it).

Yeah that is seriously cool. I wish we had places like that here.

I thought it was this sort of scouting at first:

I really wondered what scoutfriendly.com might be.
