Looking at this dispassionately:

1) What's described is not a hasty process, i.e., it's not the action of a lieutenant in the field with a time limit measured in hours or minutes.

2) Anyone with the time to consider sleep deprivation as a technic has the time to use drugs.

3) It's the product of a person or persons with both limited experience in the extraction of information and very limited imagination.

4) Used on a subject who is expecting it, it's of limited or no value at all.

5) It's a waste of time and resources that could be better spent, hence in-efficient.

Looking at this in other lights, it is utterly without honour. That, in and of itself, condemns it.
