Well the piece I put up a week ago just got more interesting.

My father and I were talking on the phone, and he started to tell me about a guy who had sent a blanket message out to asking people to go backpacking for "free".

My dad smelled a rat.

As he's teling me about it I said, "wait a minute, I'll bet this was, Concientious Travller".

Imagine his surprise when he checked, and it was.

Seems the plans to rescue girls trapped in the sex trade are in need of some PR.

I'll pay for you to travel.

Hello Everyone,

I'm launching a new backpacker company in the comming months and looking for 30-50 of the right people to work with me...

You pay for your food, I cover your flights and attractions, activities.

You get to backpack around the world, AROUND THE WORLD and I pick up the tab for you throwing parties and representing the brand.

Whats the catch?

Look at my profile, I do social things and if your lucky.... very lucky, you can come to a private Island next year for some time.... until the school is built.

But wait, there's more.

It seems, as one slogs through the thread, that there are things which aren't being answered (shocked, I tell you, shocked).

But we have a hero, willing to step up and make all things plain.

Hi, my name is Jay.

I am one of the most recent team members to partner
with Ryan.

Proactively speaking, I would like to present an
opportunity to answer questions that others may wish
to field about what exactly is going on in this
organization.

If you have questions that you feel haven't gotten a
specific answer or satisfactory answer, could you
please direct them toward me, and I will research them
and provide answers. Answers that we all can use.

So I looked at RANSOMEDMAN 2007's profile. Lets just say it didn't allay the concerns which arose from "one of the most recent team members," saying he could answer all my questions.

I hope this is just fantastical pipe dreams, or a straight up scam; because I can see a lot of people getting burned if they actually try to help him pull this off.

One of my favorite anecdotes about gullibility is how The entire Albanian economy and government were destroyed by pyramid schemes (http://www.worldbank.org/html/prddr/trans/so97/albania2.htm)

Of course it's a scam, and of course people will be burned. Probably already have been. Though honestly, the scam makers could put out a passable book on a simple plot based on that idea at less of a risk for the payout.

I'm not quite sure if it was here or Australia but one of the consumer ministries got so sick of frequent scams burning consumers that they ran their own dummy scam.

Anyone dumb enough to sign up for a venture into jellyfish farming received their money back and stern talking to about scams...

Actually, I'm beginning to think he's serious. Self-delusional and doomed to fail (probabaly in some obscure manner) but serious.
