My computer didn't hate me.
Jun. 1st, 2006 06:07 pmIt turns out that somehow a setting in Firefox got switched, which was the source of my inability to scroll.
Today I noticed that the problem seemed to exist only in Firefox (not as easy to spot as one might think because web-surfing is one of the few places where it's really obvious. Games and image manipulation behave differently, and the behaviour it was engaging in is what I want when I'm using a word-processor). It was testing the problem in an IE tab which showed this to be localised.
So I figured it must be an extention issue.
I chucked a couple of them, because I haven't actually been using them, and they were added about the time the problem showed up.
The rest I either didn't want to ditch (I only have about a dozen) or were stable before the problem (well, except for Blue Frog, which stopped working. For some reason it can't find its home server to do the reporting).
It still wasn't fixed, so I started poking about in the guts of Firefox, and found that "autoscrolling" was on.
I turned it off, and voila, things are back as they should be.
