Stepping out

I'm going to be in Jersey City/New York City, from the 20th, to the 29th. I have a number of friends in the area, whom I've barely met, in person, or know only from this here internet. It occurs to me that I should like to see/meet some of them.

It seems, given the constraints of time and space, arranging a specific time and place to do so might be in order. So, ladymondegreen and I are looking at arranging a small gathering (or not so small depending on how many people elect to show up).

I am leaning earlier in the visit. I have a couple of reasons; the first being it's a visit with ladymondegreen, and time is short enough. The second, I will have empty time when she is at work, and if any of y'all want to/have the time to wander around the city with me, I'd probably like it, and such things would be easier to plan, face to face.

So the plan is... Either a reading/chinese food afterwards on Weds 21 Jul at The KGB Lounge where Cat Valente will be doing a reading.

If that's too late for midweek, make a comment, and we shall figure something out for Friday, the 24th.

I would have time to wander during the week, and would like to actually put a voice and breath to your writing. Soren might not be up for the reading, or Chinatown, though.

If it's not too hot, walking around Brooklyn is always fun. Perhaps we could get Teresa, and walk around Green-Wood Cemetery?

I'm going to be out of town from the 22nd through the 26th; I probably won't know whether I can do the 21st until next Thursday the earliest. So while I'd like you to keep me posted on plans, it's probably not prudent to build them around my availability.

Are you planning to ride non-stop from Oak Ridge to NYC? I ask because I'd like to catch you on the drive up I-81 if the timing would work out. Getting to NYC in mid-week from Baltimore is probably not going to happen for me, but I might be able to drive out to Hagerstown MD (or perhaps somewhere in northern Virginia) and intercept you if I have a good idea when you'll be coming through.

I am not, at this point, planning to blow straight through, and was figuring (basesd on previous interest), to try and arrange a get together in the DC area on the way.

It's a long day's saddle time to go straight through, adding the needed rest/fuel/food stops, and it becomes something like 12 hours from start to finish.

So yes, I think we can figure something out.
