Ah... the libertarian in his native environment

I've been involved in a brief passage of arms with a libertarian (who has passed the bar, though he may not be practicing at the moment). As one might expect, his grasp on the way things work, in practice, is a trifle limited (if one doesn't have the 1st and 2nd amendments, one is living in an absolute tyranny).

So I was looking at the LeftCoaster, and the GOP Problem Solver. I decided to see what the answer was to my, minor, problem (for my part, I told him what I thought last night, and have put paid to the account; no further response from him, on that topic, will be read).

But, as might be expected, the GOP has The Answer If you should need further explanation, the button, "that doesn't make sense," will clear it up for you.

Unsurprisingly, the military-industrial complex requires a larger tax cut to solve than libertarian lawyers.

"The Repubicans are in office" got me a $1,546 tax cut. Would that it were so simple.

Hey, Monkey!

It's Louis Riel Day.
Is insurrection (http://gopproblemsolver.com/solutions/10186) one of our Family Values?

(correct html clearly is not...)

I do think tax cuts are the way to get more insurrection into daily life.

Unless you're a poor person, because then the GOP answer is to replace the income tax with a sales tax, which means you pay more.

I was speaking in real-life terms, not of the generator's results.

[identity profile] pecunium.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh... well then. Go and intrude reality.

And hope it's just a sales tax, not something like Forbes "flat tax" on wages, not income.

ah-hem...

If I don't get coffee, apparently The Terrorists Win (http://gopproblemsolver.com/solutions/10204)

This bar of which you speak, is it perhaps made of a fairly dense metal?

Because I suspect he might have hit his head on it a few times as he passed...

Ah... the libertarian in his native environment.

Fixed that for ya.

[identity profile] pecunium.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh.

The native environment for them is (anymore) the internet. It used to be the lettercols, but that once the chance to speak to a larger audience, and enlighten the massses retail, and wholesale; at once, was presented.... kitty bar the door.

But they are a hothouse flower, not really capable of life in the wider world. They inhabit the wonderful land of Theory, where everything works.

Those of us who are toiling in the land of Practice, well it's not so simple here.
