Bloody hell

I was trying to limit myself to not posting until the last piece of trip report is finished, but it's taking more work/mental energy than I seem to have.

And then I see something which can't wait.

Clergy being asked/trained to "quell dissent" in event of martial law

I can't think of anything coherent, save that it might be time to make sure one has lots of powder to keep dry.

Can I watch yours instead? It sounds a lot more fun. I've spent a long time in the, "expendable" category, and am used to thinking of myself that way.

When all it said and done I don't feel all that special, there are lots of people who say the things I say better than I do, so where (god forbid) I might be more useful than they is in the realm of actually shooting at people; and there are lots of people who can do that.

I don't see myself as a Grant, or a Washington.

Watch away, sorry about the unaesthetic bruise...

Well, you know, you're a smart man, you're entitled to a Weird Idea or two. Just don't go taking that one too seriously, all right?

The rest of us reserve the right to know better.

No, you're a [livejournal.com profile] pecunium. And therefore irreplaceable.

Well, by those lights we are all irreplaceable (and too true).

I had this conversation with [profile] xopher_vh on Making Light sometime back. I take that one as seriously as I need to; and being a crusty-old sergeant, in a "combat multiplier" position, I am pretty low on the expend list.

Given my druthers, I intend to die in bed; shot by the irate husband not desired.

Oh yeah, how did you let your behind get bruised?

And such things aren't "unaesthetic" they are signs of an active life and impart character and distinction to an otherwise merely notable fundament.

I sat down on a Greyhound without due care and attention. Happens to me a lot, dammit.

Huzzah for character!

Just goes to show that next time you ought to take the train, where one can get a sleeper.
