Bloody hell

I was trying to limit myself to not posting until the last piece of trip report is finished, but it's taking more work/mental energy than I seem to have.

And then I see something which can't wait.

Clergy being asked/trained to "quell dissent" in event of martial law

I can't think of anything coherent, save that it might be time to make sure one has lots of powder to keep dry.

Someone posted, quite a while back, about gov't "disaster preparedness training for clergy," which basically focused on a bunch of bible verses about following instructions, doing what you're told, and acknowledging that God put the government in power. She'd posted scans of the pages they handed out, with underlined sections.

The training sessions were apparently oblivious to the concept that many clergyfolk aren't Christian; the Muslims, Jews and Buddhists present were rather put out by the whole thing.

I can't remember if it was [livejournal.com profile] sunfell or [livejournal.com profile] ebonypearl, or was posted at [livejournal.com profile] dark_christian. A quick look through calendars & tags didn't find it.

Googled a bit. Secret FEMA plan, May 24 2006.

Another copy of the article, with a link to the official PDF.

I'm pretty convinced that this is real, in that it makes almost too much sense not to be. However, that PDF is .. very inconclusive. It looks to me like basic disaster prep seminar notes mixed in with one church's clergy notes about general stress and life event management.
