Today, it seems, is a day of serial reference, and all my original thinking is spent in response to others.

So be it... somedays one has to just revel in the outer world... tomorrow I can contemplate my navel for the betterment of mankind.

I like politics. By that I mean I like the mechanics of how compromise is reached. I crave vigorous debate on matters of substance (and hate the craven world in which we live, impoverished of it, slaves to spin and sound-bites... in some ways has it been ever thus... Nash anyone? But Lincoln and Douglas did debate, and Publius and Cincinattus used to write... today we have flabby moderators and settle for blather from Will and Brooks, with a small, oh so small, soupcon of people like Krugman, who will speak their minds well, but I digress).

I am not squeamish, I can watch laws made as easily as I can handle the making of sausages mine own self.
