I can't remember where I read this, but the best description of evil I ever heard was, "sin is treating people like things."

It doesn't matter what side you're on, or what your political aims are--if you treat the people as nothing more than numbers and tools to further them, that's evil.

Unfortunately, these people are on both sides and they seem to be running the show a lot of the time.
