The country, as a whole, needs to get through this with some level of healthy dialogue. If it does not, then it will crumble into a miserable shadow barely resembling its former self. That may be what it takes to set the stage for a superior replacement.

I doubt we'll have a total collapse of the Federal State, but we may have enough of an economic downslide to pull the entire nation off of the superpower list.
