Various things point to the netroots getting a bit more attention than we used to.

Based on Slate's report that they had been fired, the long delay from that report to the announcement; and subsequent reports that they were fired, and then re-hired; it seems things like the letters, and the posts (I did both) combined to stiffen the spine of the campaign.

It saddens me that it tooks people like us pointing out the blitheringly obvious to get them to do the smart thing, but each little win is another little bit of legitimacy for those of us who are the mainstream.
